My photographs explore scale both large and small, revealing what we see and what we sometimes overlook.
I like to explore the world through miniatures - showing scenes that are mundane and/or surreal.
I paint using “flow” techniques, causing the paint to move and shift about the surface I am painting on as if it were alive. The result are images that have an incredible about of depth and detail. The imagination of the viewer tells them what they are seeing.
Made of reclaimed, recycled, or found driftwood, these seaside towns evoke places and spaces that may or may not exist. For those living in towns in the North Atlantic, there is a feel of familiarity to these towns, even if you cannot place exactly which town it is.
I make installations that explore many questions of our time - from the political to the fundamental concept of what makes us human. I use mixed media in order to create these, immersing the viewer in a new world.
The flow painting technique that I use on canvas is transferrable to glass Christmas ornaments. The imagination of the viewer makes these painted globes transform to be more than simply seasonal decorations.
